Durbar Square in Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur

Posted 1 year ago by avatar dominik in response to musketeer's question: I'€™ve noticed that there is a Durbar Square in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. Is there a coincidence or is there a connection between them? (give a different answer) .

Durbar in Nepali means palace, and in all three cases the name refers to the place where the former royal palaces are located. All three Durbar Square are landmarks for each city and each gathers around other important sites, such as gardens, mausoleums, temples etc. I think that these are the places to start a tour of either city, because the Durbar Squares are proof of creativity, talent and hard-work of people before us, that wanted to remain alive through-out history.
